The Simone Veil hospital center in Cannes (Alpes-Maritimes) has been hit by a cyberattack since Tuesday April 16, pushing the hospital to postpone numerous non-urgent surgical operations, reports France Bleu Azur.
In a press release, the hospital center explains that the cyberattack began in the morning on Tuesday. A crisis unit was set up with IT specialists and the National Information Systems Security Agency (Anssi) to limit the damage. As it stands, hospital emergencies can continue to be provided but non-urgent surgical operations will be postponed for a few days.
The hospital administration, for its part, operates in “degraded mode”, continues the hospital. This means that the patient’s health journey is no longer computerized but written down on paper. “We have to check everything”, explains the hospital press release. The authorities have been asked to investigate and find out where this cyberattack came from.
