This is the image of the day in Cannes, the one that set the red carpet on fire (or almost): the flame of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games at the Palais des Festivals. An exceptional guest, she stopped off on the Croisette.
The flame, a woman as a man, a man on the run,
A flame, stars and flashes
The Olympic flame also climbs the 24 steps of the Palais des Festivals. A historic moment.
On the music of the film Chariots of fire by Vangelis in 1981, a theme used as background music for most medal ceremonies, the athletes appeared around 6:05 p.m. (4:05 p.m. GMT) as planned, cheered by the crowd and the crackle of flashes.
99 days before the Paralympic Games (August 28-September 8), four athletes who have distinguished themselves in Paralympic disciplines had the honor of carrying the torch. Arnaud Assoumani, Paralympic long jump champion in 2008 in Beijing, began the climb, in a suit and bow tie, brandishing the metal torch in the sky.
These two events, the Cannes festival and the Olympics, are one: a reminder of these 10 great films which bring the Olympic Games to the screen, brought together in a single article.
