The parties are now fixed. Submissions of candidacies for the early legislative elections called by Emmanuel Macron must be made between Wednesday June 12 and Sunday June 16, according to a presidential decree published Monday June 10 in Official newspaper. The text also specifies the start date of the electoral campaign, set for Monday June 17 “at zero o’clock”.

The President of the Republic has set the first round for June 30, just 20 days after the decree dissolving the National Assembly signed on Monday, following the announcement of the results of the European elections, marked by a historic score. of the National Rally. The second round will take place on July 7.

Concerning the campaign for these early legislative elections, the counting of speaking times of political parties on television and radio will begin Tuesday at 6 a.m., decided Arcom, the audiovisual regulator. “Normally, our recommendations [sur le temps de parole] take effect six weeks before the election, but there, by definition, that is not possible”, Arcom president Roch-Olivier Maistre told AFP. The regulator adopted its recommendation on Monday afternoon and it will be published in the Official Journal on Tuesday.

The principle that will apply is that of equity between the parties according to their representativeness and not of strict equality. In this scenario, airtime depends on the results of the parties in previous elections (including the last legislative elections in 2022 and the European elections), polls and their ability to “animate the campaign” (e.g. through public meetings).

LTelevisions and radios must ensure that candidates and parties are given a “equitable access” on their antenna. To do this, they will count the speaking times of the candidates, their party and their support, and transmit them to Arcom for control.
