A therapeutic vaccine against lung cancer recurrence has shown promising results. How does it work ? What are its effects ? Response elements.

A therapeutic vaccine in the recurrence of lung cancer. It does not prevent the disease, but allows it to be better treated. According to an oncologist, the results on bronchial cancer are very encouraging. It allows “a reduction in the risk of mortality 41% compared to patients treated with chemotherapy”. On a patient with recurrence, who has already received chemotherapy and immunotherapy, we take a blood test to check that he belongs to the immune group called HLA-A2. We can then vaccinate him.

“A certain comfort”

“We see an increase in survival for certain patients. […] It is done with a certain comfort because unlike chemotherapy, there are much fewer adverse effects.”explains Damien Mascretdoctor and journalist. Clinical trials of therapeutic vaccines are being tested for skin, pancreatic and ovarian cancers.
