Canada’s national women’s soccer team has qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
Ranked 10e in the world, the Canadians defeated Jamaica (37e) 4-1 on total goals at the end of the two-game home-and-away series.
In doing so, they earned the last available spot reserved for a CONCACAF member country in the Olympic tournament, which will bring together 12 nations.
Canada won the second leg by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday night at BMO Field. Last Friday, in Kingston, Bev Priestman’s troops scored a 2-0 victory.
Cloe Lacasse and Jordyn Huitema found the back of the net for Canada, in front of a packed house of 29,212 spectators.
Drew Spence scored Jamaica’s only goal.
Canada’s women’s team has competed in the last four Olympic Games. In 2021, in Tokyo, the Canadian women won the gold medal, after finishing in third place in the two previous editions.
