Canadian | Senators: No animosity

Andrew Hammond had never played a game against the Senators. A little more than five years after his last game in Ottawa, he reconnected with the supporters of the Canadian Tire Centre. He made his comeback by stopping 24 of the Senators’ 25 shots in a 2-1 win.

“I have no animosity towards them. But it’s natural, when you face your old team, you want to win. I am happy with our victory. We worked hard and it’s important to win in different ways. We kept them on the periphery. My teammates made my job easier. It was a good game for a goalkeeper.”

Artturi Lehkonen has the Senators number. He scored his first brace of the season against Matthew Murray. In 23 games against Ottawa, the Finn has now scored 8 goals.

“I don’t know how to explain my success against them. But I scored my first NHL goal against the Ottawa Senators. It may be for this reason. »

Brendan Gallagher once again played on the right wing alongside Laurent Dauphin and Mike Hoffman. Late in the second period, Dauphin blocked a shorthanded Tim Stützle shot to save a goal. A big game.

“We always watch videos after a game and we will talk about this sequence. It was a clever game on Dauphin’s part. He also showed a lot of determination. We kept the lead and entered the third period with a different mentality. »
