The names of Denis Villeneuve and Patrick Huard join those of the winners of special Canadian Screen Awards already announced. The director and actor are honored for their entire career.
Denis Villeneuve will receive the Academy Icon Prize highlighting his “exceptional and continuing” contribution to the national or foreign audiovisual industry. The filmmaker of Dune, Blade Runner, Arrival And Fires is “recognized for its meticulousness and the singularity of its images”, underlines the press release issued by the organization.
Patrick Huard, recipient of the Earle-Grey Prize, is honored as an actor on television and in cinema. However, acting is only one facet of the talent of the ex-comedian, who is also an author, host, director and producer.
A third prize will be awarded to Michael MacMillan, CEO of production company Blue Ant Media. He will receive the Industry Leadership Award. “All three have made a significant impact on our screens, both in Canada and abroad,” says Tammy Frick, CEO of the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television.
The winners will receive their awards during Canada on Screen Week, which will be held in Toronto between May 26 and 1er June.
