(Tampico) Canada’s Rebecca Marino missed a chance to advance to the Abierto Tampico tournament final due to a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 loss to Poland’s Magda Linette on Friday.

Falling from Leylah Fernandez, Marino had five aces, but made two double faults.
Marino won 68.1% of his first-serve points while Linette won 77.9% of hers.
Marino, the eighth seed and 72e world racket, bowed out after a duel lasting two hours and 16 minutes.
In the final, Saturday, Linette, fifth seed and 55e world racket, will face the Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto.
The 79e world racket beat China’s Zhu Lin 6-4, 7-6 (4) to secure her bye to the final.
