(Calgary) Canadian Pacific Railway customers are sounding the alarm about a possible strike that could begin as early as Thursday.

The Teamsters Canada Rail Conference held a strike vote earlier this month, with members voting more than 96% in favor of a possible work stoppage at Canadian Pacific.
According to the union, the strike could start as early as 12:01 a.m. on March 16. More than 3,000 locomotive engineers, conductors and other CP employees could leave their jobs.
The union says wages, benefits and pensions are the main issues.
A possible strike worries CP customers. Farm groups say any disruption to railroad transportation could affect shipments of much-needed livestock feed as well as fertilizer and other supplies needed for spring planting.
Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters says its members can’t afford a railroad strike after a year of supply chain disruptions, soaring gas prices and other economic hardship .
