Jake Allen’s injury won’t get Carey Price back to action sooner, according to Martin St-Louis.

“I don’t think that’s a door opening for Carey. When Carey is ready, he’ll play no matter what the situation with Jake is. We won’t rush Carey’s return. We will follow the process, ”said the head coach of the Canadian after the meeting.
St. Louis had no details regarding the nature of Allen’s lower body injury. He simply mentioned that he would be assessed tomorrow.
Allen injured
Already, many assumed that Price could be back Monday night, against the Jets, at the Bell Center. One shouldn’t jump to conclusions, however, just because Allen suffered another misfortune.
Either way, it’s hard not to feel bad for Allen. The jinx is hounding the poor goalkeeper, who has already missed 32 games this season due to injury. Before falling in battle, he was riddled with pucks.
“He was good early on!” said St-Louis. But we stayed in the game. Monty (Samuel Montambeault) gave us a very good game in relief of Jake. I’m happy with the way we fought. We didn’t get the result we wanted, but we gave ourselves a chance and we killed big penalties.
Indeed, Toronto’s power play, which sits first in the NHL, was shut out. The Canadian also looked good on a three against five sequence in the last engagement.
It’s hard to be a keeper
For the Canadiens, the goalkeepers’ workload is definitely tough these days. It was a 12and straight game with at least 30 shots allowed.
In seven of the last 10 meetings, the counter even showed 40 shots or more.
In this context, Samuel Montambeault looked very good by taking over from Jake Allen.
Jumping cold in the fray against the fearsome Leafs offense, he yielded on the first pitch against him, but then recovered well.
“He calmed down after the first shot. It was a big reason that explains why we stayed in the game,” praised St-Louis.
It is to the credit of the Quebec goalkeeper, who was playing in only his second game since March 17.
End of the season for Drouin
St-Louis also confirmed that Jonathan Drouin had undergone wrist surgery.
His season is over, but it is impossible for the moment to confirm that he will be 100% back in training camp, according to the driver.
“I have no idea. All I know is that he had surgery. I don’t have the faintest idea of the duration of his absence,” sighed St-Louis.
