(Winnipeg) Zach Collaros threw a touchdown pass and Sergio Castillo made four field goals to lead the Winnipeg Blue Bombers to a 26-21 victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Saturday.
The win allowed the Bombers to climb to first place in the West Division while the Roughriders remain third after a seventh game without a win (0-6-1).
Collaros completed 24 of 31 passes for 231 yards, including a six-yard touchdown pass to Kenny Lawler. Backup quarterback Chris Streveler also scored on a two-yard run.
Castillo made field goals of 46, 25, 35 and 39 yards as well as two conversions.
Mike O’Shea got his 103e Blue Bombers head coaching victory, a team record, in front of 32,343 fans at Princess Auto Stadium.
Roughriders quarterback Trevor Harris completed 21 of 33 passes for 287 yards, including a nine-yard touchdown pass to KeeSean Johnson and an eight-yard pass to Samuel Emilus. He also threw two interceptions.
Brett Lauther made field goals of 50 and 35 yards and Adam Korsak added a 68-yard single.
The Riders took a 23-21 lead on Lauther’s second field goal, but Castillo gave his team the win with 65 seconds left.
The Bombers scored their second touchdown of the game early in the fourth quarter when Collaros found Lawler.
The Roughriders took the lead early in the second quarter when Harris threw an 81-yard bomb to Kian Schaffer-Baker to set up Emilus’ touchdown.
The Blue Bombers took a 10-0 lead following two turnovers in the first quarter.
Bombers defensive end Tyrell Ford intercepted a Harris pass and six plays later, Streveler scored his touchdown on the ground.
On the Riders’ previous possession, Bombers defensive end Willie Jefferson blocked a Korsak punt and Tanner Cadwallader recovered the ball to lead to Castillo’s 46-yard field goal.
