The refrain is now well known. Max Verstappen flew over Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve on Sunday, easily winning his second consecutive Canadian Grand Prix. Quebecer Lance Stroll took the 9e rank.
Under gray skies without rain, the Red Bull driver finished the race where he started, never seeing anyone challenge him. It is therefore a sixth victory in eight races this season for the double – probably triple within a few months – world champion.
Behind him, nearly 10 seconds later, Fernando Alonso’s Aston Martin crossed the finish line in second place. It’s a first podium in Canada in ten years for the 41-year-old Spaniard. Like last year, Lewis Hamilton finished third.
Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz son, left 10e and 11e on the grid, quickly made their way up to the 4e and 5e positions, without however ever threatening the three leaders. The second Red Bull, that of Sergio Pérez, concluded in 6e place.
The surprise of the day is undoubtedly Williams driver Alex Albon, who achieved his best result of the season. Party 10ehe managed to gain three places to finish 7e.
Quebecer Lance Stroll overtook Lando Norris at the very end to take the 9e place.
More details to come.
