As the final seconds ticked away, Red & Black’s Richie Leone’s field goal attempt came short from 53 yards.

The winning game came on a third down and the goals.

Ottawa’s Hakeem Bailey (0-5) had an interception at the team’s goal line with 1:45 remaining. He was stifling what started with an 88-yard punt return from Lawrence Woods.

Following the interception, the opposing defense did not give in, however.

Evans and company then rode to victory, in front of 20,411 fans.

Ottawa was playing its first game without quarterback Jeremiah Masoli, a former Tiger-Cats (1-4).

He could miss up to three months with a knee injury.

Caleb Evans had 203 passing yards, with one touchdown pass and two interceptions.

The Rouge et Noir will host the Alouettes on Thursday. The same evening, the Tiger-Cats will visit the Lions.
