(Toronto) Former Montreal Alouettes coach Marv Levy will have to wait a bit longer before entering the Canadian Football Hall of Fame.
The induction ceremony for the 2020 and 2021 vintages of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame has been postponed to spring 2022 due to the coronavirus pandemic, the league announced in a press release on Tuesday.
“The induction ceremony simply wouldn’t be the same without the families of the inductees and without our wonderful supporters by our side to properly honor the tremendous achievements and legacy of these gentlemen,” said Greg Dick, Director. Acting General of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame.
This was initially to take place as part of the festivities surrounding the holding of 108e Gray Cup game on December 12, 2021 in Hamilton. The CFL’s plans were changed, however, “due to continuing health and safety concerns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Levy is part of the 2021 Hall of Fame vintage, along with sixth CFL Commissioner Doug Mitchell and former players Will Johnson, Mike Walker, Nik Lewis, Orlondo Steinauer and Don Wilson.
The date of the induction ceremony for the 2020 and 2021 vintages, which will take place at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, will be announced early next year.
