Canadian end-of-season report | Too early to discuss the future of St-Louis and Price

General manager Kent Hughes said it was still too early to discuss the future of interim head coach Martin St-Louis on Saturday morning during the Montreal Canadiens’ end-of-season review at the Sports Complex. Bell of Brossard.

Hughes, however, mentioned that he would sit down with St. Louis to discuss “in the near future.”

On the other hand, the former players’ agent confided that he does not know if star goaltender Carey Price played, or not, his last career game with the Habs. However, he admitted that his knee “is not 100%”, and added that the situation will be clarified during the summer.

Hughes was also asked to shed some light on the status of captain Shea Weber, who was absent from the ceremonies surrounding the passing of legendary CH No. 10 Guy Lafleur earlier this week.

In particular, he mentioned that Weber refused to meet with members of the media “because he is not comfortable answering questions without saying too much about his injury”.

The CEO in the same breath clarified that it is “very unlikely that he (Weber) will one day be able to return to the game”.

Weber’s status is directly linked to the future of leadership within the Bleu-blanc-rouge. In this sense, Hughes reiterated that he would analyze his workforce during the summer, and recalled that he intended to appoint a new captain in the fall.

St. Louis is scheduled to meet with members of the media later on Saturday, followed by some hand-picked players.

The Canadian ended his season at 32and and last in the NHL with a 22-49-1 record. It was the Montreal franchise’s worst season since the 1939-40 season.
