Canadian Dental Benefits portal open

The result of a marriage of convenience between Liberals and New Democrats, the Canadian Dental Benefit is officially accessible with the launch of its portal this Thursday.

Access is through the My Account section of the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), for which you must have an account.

It is also possible to request a refund over the phone, although we warn that the process will be longer.

This benefit allows parents of eligible children under the age of 12 to obtain up to $650 for the reimbursement of dental care. These children must not be covered by a private care plan and not be entitled to reimbursement from other programs, in particular that of the Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec, which, however, offers less comprehensive coverage.

The new federal program is restricted to households earning less than $90,000 and allows for up to two reimbursements per child, which can be claimed even before the dental visit.
