To make room for Drouin, Rem Pitlick will be left out. Pitlick was limited to 12 min 45 s of play on Friday in Detroit.

Drouin will form a line with Jake Evans and Mike Hoffman, while Evgenii Dadonov will be promoted to the unit of Sean Monahan and Kirby Dach.

Drouin will not be the only Quebecer to break the ice. Goalkeeper Samuel Montembeault will also be entitled to a first start this season. He will try to improve his record against the Capitals, who is posting a 5.23 average and an efficiency of .837 in two games against Washington.

In defense, St-Louis suggested that Kaiden Guhle represents a questionable case. Guhle missed part of the first period on Friday with an injury, the nature of which is unknown. A decision will be made during the warm-up. If Guhle is absent, Corey Schueneman will likely play his first game of the season.
