(Igls) Germany stole the show in both Bobsleigh World Cup races on Sunday. Francesco Friedrich led her team to victory in the four-man bobsleigh and Laura Nolte did the same in the women’s two-man event, where the Canadians captured the bronze medal.
Nolte joined forces with Leonie Fiebig to win in 1: 46.22. Germany also clinched silver with Kim Kalicki and Anabel Galander. Canadians Christine de Bruin and Kristen Bujnowski took third place on the podium.
The other two Canadian crews respectively finished 9e and 12e.
In the men’s event, Britain’s Brad Hall and Germany’s Johannes Lochner shared the silver medal in the four-man event, both finishing 26 hundredths of a second off Friedrich’s time (1: 41.31) .
Friedrich was assisted by Alexander Schueller, Thorsten Margis and Candy Bauer.
Canadians Justin Kripps, Ryan Sommer, Cam Stones and Benjamin Coakwell finished 6the rank, 61 hundredths from the winners.
The other Canadian crew, consisting of Christopher Spring Christopher, Mike Evelyn, Cody Sorensen and Samuel Giguère, placed 13.
The Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Cup circuit remains in Igls for another round of races next weekend.
