Canadian Association of Journalists | La Presse in the running for the prize for best investigative journalism

The Press garnered two nominations for the Canadian Association of Journalists’ Best Investigative Journalism Awards.


Investigative team leader Vincent Larouche is nominated in the Scoop category for his story about a criminal trial held in total secrecy1. In an exceptional outing, the Quebec Court of Appeal denounced the holding of a mysterious criminal trial whose traces had been erased, revealed the journalist.

Editorial writer Philippe Mercure and graphic designer Maxime Jean are finalists in the Online Media category for their digital story on the epidemic of fatal overdoses in Quebec2.

Digging through more than 1,250 coroners’ reports, the report shed light on the scourge of tainted drugs and counterfeit medicines that claim the lives of people of all ages and social classes.

With 18 categories, the competition rewards investigative journalism in Canada. The winners will be announced at the awards gala on April 15 in Vancouver.
