Canada’s Walk of Fame | Avril Lavigne, Rick Mercer and Connor McDavid inducted Saturday evening

(Toronto) Pop-punk music icon Avril Lavigne, host and political satirist Rick Mercer and hockey star Connor McDavid are among those who will be inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame on Saturday evening during a special gala at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.


Canada’s Walk of Fame, celebrating its 25the anniversary, honors Canadians for their excellence in areas ranging from entertainment to humanitarian work.

The actress Tantoo Cardinal, who we saw notably in the American film Killers of the Flower Moon directed by Martin Scorsese and Roots Canada co-founders Michael Budman and Don Green are also among this year’s inductees.

Hip-hop singer Kardinal Offishall is this year’s recipient of the Allan Slaight Music Impact Honor Award.

In addition, 13 of the most influential rock music legends of the 70s and 80s, including Glass Tiger and Loverboy, inducted onto the Walk of Fame during a special event in September, will also be celebrated.

Saturday evening’s gala is hosted by Drew and Jonathan Scott of Property Brothers and Juno award-winning singer Deborah Cox, who received a star on Walk of Fame last year.

The gala of 25e anniversary of Canada’s Walk of Fame will be broadcast on December 16 on CTV.
