Canada’s Nicholas Bennett wins silver at Paralympics

Canadian swimmer Nicholas Bennett won silver at the Paris Paralympic Games.

The 20-year-old British Columbian finished second in the men’s 200-metre freestyle, winning his first career Paralympic medal.

Britain’s William Ellard set a world record with a time of 1 minute 51.30 seconds at the Paris La Défense Arena.

Bennett followed in 1:53.61. Australian Jack Ireland completed the podium.

Bennett, who has autism, was competing in the S14 category for athletes with intellectual disabilities.

Her sister Haley Bennett is her coach.
