Canada wins bronze in cross-country mixed relay

(Zhangjiakou) Canada won the bronze medal in the mixed cross-country ski relay at the Paralympic Games in Beijing on Sunday.

The Canadians crossed the finish line in third place in the 4 x 2.5 kilometer relay with a time of 27 minutes and 0.6 seconds.

They were beaten by one minute, one second and three tenths by the Americans who took the gold. China took second place.

This bronze medal is the 24and won by Canadian athletes at the Beijing Games.

The Canadian quartet consisted of Collin Cameron, Emily Young, Mark Arendz and Natalie Wilkie.

For Arendz, 32, this is the fourth medal won in Beijing. The cross-country skier from Prince Edward Island has won a medal in each color in three biathlon events.

In the case of Wilkie, 21, it is also a fourth medal in Beijing. She previously won two gold medals and one silver.

Cameron added a third bronze medal to his collection. For Young, it’s a first medal at the Games.
