Canada women’s soccer team head coach Bev Priestman says her group is ready to take another step forward on Tuesday.
Canada will host Jamaica at BMO Field in Toronto in the second match of a home-and-away series that will determine CONCACAF’s final representatives at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The Canadians, ranked 10ebeat Jamaica, 37e in the world, 2-0 on Friday in Kingston, Jamaica. That two-goal advantage means Canada could advance on goal totals from both games even with a 1-0 loss on Tuesday.
It was Canada’s first match since its disappointing appearance at the FIFA Women’s Soccer World Cup, where the Canadians, the reigning Olympic champions, failed to advance past the group stage.
Priestman and forward Adriana Leon spoke at a press conference after a training session.
Priestman added that the team has “a few tricks up their sleeve” and will need to show a positive mindset heading into the game.
