Canada Soccer: Former Montreal coach Jesse Marsch named head of men’s team

American Jesse Marsch has been named the new head coach of the Canadian men’s soccer team.

Canada Soccer said Marsch, who previously served as head coach for Leeds United, RB Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg, New York Red Bulls and Montreal Impact (now CF Montreal), was taking over immediately with a contract lasting until July 2026.

The Canadian team players still did not have a new coach since the departure of John Herdman in August, who joined Toronto FC.

Assistant coach Mauro Biello had been acting as interim head coach since that time. He was a candidate for the regular position as well.

Canada’s squad went 2-2-0 with Biello.
