Earl Cochrane has resigned as secretary general of Soccer Canada — the sport federation’s top job — according to a person familiar with the matter.
The person entrusted the information to The Canadian Press on condition of anonymity since she was not authorized to speak about it publicly before the official announcement.
Cochrane came into the role last July when Peter Montopoli stepped down to become head of matchmaking operations in Canada at the 2026 World Cup.
Cochrane becomes the second high-ranking Soccer Canada player in months to leave the organization, which is in a labor dispute with its national teams.
Nick Bontis resigned as president of Soccer Canada in February when he admitted change was needed to find common ground with the senior men’s and women’s teams.
