Canada in turn sanctions the two daughters of Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, as other countries have done in recent weeks because of “the illegal and unjustifiable invasion of Ukraine by the Russian regime”.

Already sanctioned in particular by the United States, the United Kingdom and the European Union, Maria Vorontsova and Katerina Tikhonova, born respectively in 1985 and 1986, are the daughters of Vladimir Putin and his ex-wife Lioudmila.
Sergei Lavrov’s wife, Maria Lavrova, and his daughter Ekaterina Vinokourova, are also among the list of new people targeted by this additional round of Canadian sanctions, which impose an asset freeze, a ban on transactions as well as the inability to enter Canada.
