Canada opens an investigation into the accident

The Canadian authorities announced Friday, June 23 open an investigation into the accident of the Titan, this private submersible disappeared near the wreck of the Titanic with five people on board. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada, “will conduct a safety investigation into the circumstances of this operation carried out by the Canadian-flagged vessel Polar Prince”he wrote.

The Polar Prince is the ship from which the small tourist submarine left in the North Atlantic on Sunday, which apparently imploded with five people on board. Debris was found near the wreck of the Titanic, at nearly 4,000 meters depth. Many concerns about the safety of the American company OceanGate’s submersible, known for years, re-emerged this week as an armada of rescuers tried to save the crew.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada oversees the investigation of air, rail and marine accidents with the goal of advancing safety. It does not comment on any civil or criminal liability.
