(Toronto) Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland is holding her annual meeting of federal, provincial and territorial finance ministers in Toronto on Friday.
The meeting will focus on economic growth, housing and affordability, according to a press release. But ministers are also expected to talk about pension plans after holding a special meeting last month to discuss Alberta’s intentions to create its own pension plan.
Alberta has since suspended public consultations on a pension plan. However, a senior federal source says the issue of pensions will be discussed at Friday’s meeting.
The meeting comes as Canada continues to battle high inflation and high interest rates weigh on the economy.
Additionally, all levels of government face growing pressure to solve the housing crisis by finding ways to build more housing, faster.
