Canada | Manufacturing sales rose 0.3% in April

(Ottawa) Canadian manufacturing sales rose 0.3% to $72.3 billion in April, supported by stronger sales of motor vehicle parts and petroleum and coal products, Statistics reported Thursday. Canada.


According to the federal agency, sales of motor vehicle parts rose 25.1% to a record high of 3.8 billion in April, mainly due to a significant increase in sales of engines and other automotive parts in Ontario.

As supply chain pressures continued to ease, Statistics Canada explained, manufacturers of transportation equipment were able to ramp up production in the first four months of the year, compared the same period last year, in order to respond to market demands and reduce order books.

Petroleum and coal industry sales climbed 4.3% to $9.1 billion in April, as higher volumes offset lower prices for refined petroleum fuel products.

Meanwhile, sales in the primary metal manufacturing industry fell 5.4% to $5.7 billion.

Expressed in constant dollars, manufacturing sales rose 0.8% in April, reflecting higher volumes of goods sold during the month.
