Canadians, 47e in the FIFA rankings, were looking for their first tournament win since the 2000 Gold Cup, and are missing out on the prize money for the Nations League winner, which stands at around US$1 million.
Chris Richards at the 12e minute and Folarin Balogun in the 34th minute of play scored for the United States, 13e in the FIFA rankings.
Mexico (15e) beat Panama (58e) 1-0 in the match for third place at the Allegiant Stadium, thanks to a goal from Jesus Gallardo in the fourth minute.
The Americans also won the first edition of the Nations League in 2021, beating Mexico in the final.
Canada now turns its sights to the Gold Cup, which kicks off June 27 at BMO Field in Toronto, against an as-yet-unnamed opponent.
