Canada defeated by the United States in the semi-final of the Women’s Gold Cup

Goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher stopped three shots on goal and scored herself to help the United States win a dramatic match against Canada on Wednesday night in the semifinals of the Women’s Gold Cup.

Canada tied the game 2-2 in overtime to force a penalty shootout.

Lindsey Horan, Sophia Smith and Naeher found the back of the net in penalties for the Americans. Quinn, who only goes by one name, was the only one to score for Canada.

Naeher stopped Adriana Leon, Jordyn Huitema and Jessie Fleming during the session.

Canada came from behind twice during the duel, with goals in the 82e minute from Huitema, as well as at the 127e minute coming from Leon, on a penalty.

Smith gave the United States a 2-1 lead with a goal in the 99the minute.

Jaedyn Shaw opened the scoring for the Americans with her goal scored in the 20the minute. This goal was the first allowed by Canada in the tournament.

Huitema’s goal was his 21e in 78 games for Canada.

The United States will face Brazil in the final on Sunday.
