Canada condemns Russia’s attack on Ukraine

Canada condemns Russia’s “unjustifiable” attack on Ukraine and announces its participation in a G7 meeting on Thursday to consider further sanctions against Moscow.

“Canada condemns in the strongest possible terms Russia’s unjustifiable attack on Ukraine,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement Wednesday.

Ottawa believes that these “unprovoked” actions are a flagrant violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, before calling on Moscow to withdraw all of its military forces from the country.

Mr Trudeau warns that Russia’s actions will have serious consequences, as the West prepares to launch additional sanctions against Moscow.

“[Jeudi]I will meet with our G7 partners, and we will continue to work quickly and closely with NATO and our allies to provide a collective response to these irresponsible and dangerous acts, including the imposition of significant sanctions which will be added to those which we have already announced”, indicated Mr. Trudeau.

Faced with this escalation provoked by Moscow, Canada will take other measures to put an end to this “unjustified” aggression.

“Russia’s outrageous acts will not go unpunished,” he promised.
