(Toronto) Bayern Munich and Canadian soccer star Alphonso Davies has been named Soccer Canada’s Player of the Year for the fourth time in five seasons.
Davies was instrumental in helping the men’s team qualify for the World Cup for the first time in 36 years. He also scored the first goal in team history at the prestigious tournament, presented this fall in Qatar.
The 22-year-old full-back also helped Bayern win the Bundesliga title in 2021-22 and the German Super Cup in 2022. He became the most-started Canadian player in Champions League history .
Davies, who hails from Edmonton, has three goals in seven international appearances.
He has 13 goals in 33 games with the Canadian selection. He is also the team’s all-time leader with 16 assists.
Jessie Fleming won Player of the Year honors for the second time in a row on Wednesday.
