(Red Deer) Canada’s men’s under-18 team defeated Finland 4-1 to advance to the Hlinka-Gretzky Cup final on Friday.

The tournament’s leading scorer, Ethan Gauthier, was the first to flash the red light in the first period. The Quebecer brought his total to five successes during the tournament.
Calum Ritchie doubled the lead with his second goal and his last two games. Matthew Wood and Denver Barkey then scored within 19 seconds in the third period and confirmed the Maple Leaf victory.
The Finns entered the scoreboard with just 18 seconds left in the game. Arttu Alasiurua was credited with the goal.
Scott Ratzlaff made 23 saves but allowed his first goal in three games for Canada.
Canada will face the winner of the duel between Sweden and Czechia in the final. The Canadians, still undefeated, are trying to get their hands on a first title since 2018.
