To buy more durable items, you can consult the repairability index of certain household appliances, the list of which is growing from November 4. But what is it really worth?

In the smartphone, washing machine or television department, this is a sales criterion that can make all the difference. The repairability index is a score out of ten whose purpose is to measure the ease with which products can be repaired. From Friday, November 4, vacuum cleaners, dishwashers or even high-pressure cleaners should also display this repairability index, which is mandatory, but which however does not appear in all brands.

The repairability index in the association finder

These signs are in the sights of the associations. That day, activists carry out an operation of a few minutes consisting of sticking labels denouncing the lack of information on household appliances. “We see that the planet is burning, that the little laws that we manage to get adopted are not applied and that, we cannot let it happen”emphasizes Samuel Sauvage, co-founder of the association “Stop planned obsolescence”. The Repairability Index rating system is set by the manufacturers who would arrange to get the highest rating.
