No question of trivializing the far right by donning the same jersey as elected Lepenists. You know the saying of the great philosopher Pierre Desproges, “We can laugh at everything, but not with anyone”. Well, for the deputies on the left, it’s the same, we don’t kick a ball with anyone. So, football is a game and we can understand those who want to choose who to have fun with. For fear of seeing the only Macronist deputies alongside the RN, the boss of the Renaissance group, Aurore Bergé also called on her troops not to play. Some Renaissance deputies, like that of Yvelines, Karl Olive, will still put on their crampons.
>> Match of the French team of parliamentarians: Aurore Bergé recommends that the deputies of the majority boycott the event
This controversy is quite futile, and even a little grotesque, but it illustrates the trap set by the RN in the National Assembly: that of trivialization. Moreover, the RN deputies have obtained positions of responsibility, in particular vice-presidencies with the consent of the walkers. During the extraordinary session this summer, they sometimes mixed their voices with those of the majority, as with those of the left. And tomorrow, the Nupes counts on their rallying when it will file a motion of censure to try to bring down the government on the pension reform.
In short, infrequent on a football field, RN deputies are not in the National Assembly. They are 89, the first opposition group! Impossible to ignore. It is the number which makes its strength, and which incites its opponents to pour into hypocrisy. For example, not long ago, left-wing deputies, like the Insoumis Alexis Corbière, played rugby in the parliamentary XV in the same jersey as the Lepenist Louis Aliot. This did not shock anyone, probably because there was only one RN deputy.
And this trap of trivialization, the extreme right now tends it everywhere in Europe. Twenty-two years ago, when a far-right party entered a democratically elected European government for the first time since 1945, it was in Austria, ministers from other EU countries boycotted their counterparts for Several weeks. Giorgia Meloni’s victory in Rome on Sunday did not arouse any protest.
