The easing of health measures comes in a context of epidemic recovery. For several days, the number of contaminations has been on the rise again. Details.

The almost total lifting of restrictions seems to be explained by the number of hospitalizations which have been falling for several weeks now. In February, we reached 3,000 hospitalizations per day. As of March 12, there were only 970. But beware, for the past week, the number of daily cases has been increasing. On March 6, 52,000 cases were detected against 63,000 on March 12.

Professor Bruno Mégarbane, head of the intensive care unit at Lariboisière hospital (Paris) nevertheless wants to be reassuring about the situation. “For the moment we are in a dynamic of decreasing hospitalizations in intensive care“, he says. Currently, 1,900 patients have been admitted there, most of them for 3 weeks already. Indeed, new admissions are rare. If a slowdown or stabilization of cases is expected, the return to the life before is going to be “very progressive“, warns Bruno Mégarbane.
