Friday May 6, in Saint-Tropez, in the Var, a cooperative launched a rosé in a can. Easier to carry, attractive for young people, this can is a novelty.
A wine cooperative in Saint-Tropez (Var) has launched a canned rosé. “It leaves me a little perplexed because I find that the glass is still, for the moment, the best to drink it”, says a man. This new packaging, in cans, is intended to support the explosion of take-out sales. The other objective of Frédéric Schaeffer, general manager of the master winegrowers of Saint-Tropez, “It is to reach a young target, in particular 18-25 year olds, who today consume little wine”he explains.
The rosé comes from the vineyards of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. “It’s exactly the same wine, whether it’s in a can or a bottle, it’s the same”, reassures Frédéric Schaeffer. Does canned wine taste the same? “There’s no taste, bad taste or anything. If I hadn’t opened it, I don’t see the difference with a bottle”says Géraldine Lopez, laboratory technician at Azur Œnologie.
