Everyone has great passions in life, but I’m not sure that, among them, there is the attentive, rigorous and punctual follow-up of the news in the European Parliament in Strasbourg. But Wednesday, January 19, the “French touch” came to shake it all up. Emmanuel Macron presented in a speech his priorities for the French presidency of the Council of Ministers of the European Union.
It is not exceptional as an appointment since it returns every six months, with each change of presidency. And so we, French, we said to ourselves that things were humming a little and that we could talk a little about ourselves. After all, we have a presidential election in three months. It was Yannick Jadot who started.

We were off to a good start, but Jordan Bardella literally uttered a poem in front of everyone. “Mr Macron, your Europe has become Washington’s backyard, Beijing’s prey, Erdogan’s doormat and Africa’s hotel”, launched the MEP of the National Rally. “From your mandate, only cynicism and contempt will remain: for France as for Europe, it is vital that it remains unique.”
Manon Aubry, she still made a little effort. She remembered that we were in the European Parliament and put in translations of the expression “fuck them”, in reference to Emmanuel Macron’s remarks on the non-vaccinated, to try to stick a little to the “Europe” theme.

The European colleagues realized a little of all that. “Most of our French colleagues are obsessed with the elections”, for example launched the Belgian Guy Verofstadt, of the Renew group, to which La République en Marche belongs.
Finally, Emmanuel Macron replied to Jordan Bardella, for example, and he released one of his sentences of which he has the secret: “CIt is not by saying anything – even if it holds – that we can end up, in the end, by telling the truth. For that alone, I think that the European colleagues are happy to have come.
