Camila Giorgi ends her career

(Rome) Italian Camila Giorgi, winner of four titles on the WTA circuit, ended her career at the age of 32, announced the Italian Tennis Federation.


Giorgi, who peaked at 26e world place in 2018, played his last match in March during the 2e tour of the WTA 1000 in Miami where she was swept 6-1, 6-1 by Polish world No.1 Iga Swiatek.

She has not appeared in competition since.

The Italian was coached by her father Sergio, recognizable by his imposing white hair and a controversial figure on the women’s circuit due in particular to his angry outbursts against the referees.

Giorgi won the National Bank Montreal Open in 2021 and reached the quarterfinals of Wimbledon in 2018 and the Tokyo Olympic tournament in 2021.
