Camembert made from raw milk is also a victim of rising prices, due to soaring wheat prices in particular, but also to the drought, which penalizes the feeding of cows and which impacts manufacturing costs.

Camemberts in this cheese factory, we produce 15,000 a day. To make just one of 300 grams, you need more than 2 liters of milk. An essential ingredient, of which David Aubrée, director of the Reo cheese factory, would like to increase the price. With the war in Ukraine, the cheese factory’s production costs skyrocketed, which explains the desire to increase the price of camemberts. But the negotiations are complicated.

If David Aubrée tries to increase the price of his camemberts, it is also to better remunerate the milk producers from whom he gets his supplies. But for now, the news is not good. Milk will therefore be lacking at the Reo cheese dairy. If negotiations with supermarkets fail, it could lose customers and see its products disappear from certain supermarket shelves.
