Camaïeu employees are in shock after the placement in compulsory liquidation of their company

Thursday, September 29 in the morning, it is one of the very last curtain raisers for the Camaïeu brand, placed in compulsory liquidation, before its definitive closure on Saturday 1^er October evening. The group’s 511 stores will close their doors. This is a shock for the employees. “Overnight, you find yourself out of work, out of work…”, explains one of the employees. This is the end of a French brand founded almost 40 years ago in Roubaix (Nord).

In financial difficulty for years, the disappearance of Camaïeu saddens the customers. “When we were young, my mother when she told ust ‘We’re going to Camaïeu’, it was the reference shop”explains a regular of the store. One of the employee representatives expresses his sadness and incomprehension. He cannot hide his anger. The day before, already, the employees had expressed their despair after the decision of the Commercial Court of Lille (North). “A whole life in the trash, 2,700 people on the street… What do we do now?was moved an employee at the exit of the courtroom.
