Quarterback and free agent Cam Newton prefers to wait before committing to an NFL team.

This is what he revealed to the ESPN network on Tuesday.
“There are teams interested in my services. I’m waiting to find the best place for me, because I want to win a championship and get a fair chance to play,” explained the 32-year-old veteran.
Before the start of the 2021 season, Newton was released by the New England Patriots, who had preferred the young Mac Jones to him. The first overall pick in the 2011 draft played the 2020 campaign with this club, having been let go by the Carolina Panthers after his nine seasons with this team.
Right in the middle of the last regular season, the Panthers brought Newton home, after Sam Darnold suffered an injury. He completed 54.8% of his passes for 684 yards and four touchdowns in eight games. The Auburn Tigers product also scored five majors with his legs and was the victim of five interceptions.
On Tuesday, Panthers head coach Matt Rhule said he was open to Newton returning with the team.
“I love Cam Newton,” he said. He is an incredible leader and an excellent football player. Everything we do has to be the right thing for the organization and it has to be the right thing for him as well.”
In early March, general manager Scott Fitterer also said he was open to seeing Newton again with the Panthers.
For the moment, Darnold, who must play the last year of his contract in 2022, seems to be the starter of the Carolina club for the next campaign. It is however possible that the organization selects a quarterback in the NFL Draft, which notably holds the sixth round of the first round.
