This Wednesday, February 22, 2023, Jordan de Luxe received Philippe Conticini on his show At Jordan’s. An opportunity for the famous 59-year-old chef to confide in his terrible relationship with his father, but also on his fight against weight gain. To fight against the extra pounds, the face of contemporary gastronomy has chosen to pass on the billiards. Unfortunately, the gastric bypass didn’t go as planned. The operation turned into a tragedy.
“The day I had surgery, the doctor completely failed me”first remembered the cook before continuing his story: “He took me back 19 days later, I fell into a coma”. “I wanted to do a bypass which was never done. He sent me to Bichat, I arrived there, sepsis, acute peritonitis, all the organs superinfected, the heart was no longer beating…”

Faced with such a situation, the doctors were unanimous. Philippe Conticini was not going to survive. “They told my wife, ‘Your mate is leaving, call your friends.’ And she did.”, he added. Sentenced, the chef has nevertheless done everything to get out of it. “I fought,” explained Chiara’s dad before giving more details on his state of health at the end of this terrible ordeal. “I had two months of coma, six months of sheaves, three septic shocks. I was delirious for a month and a half after coming to my senses”. A nightmare for Anne-Lise’s companion who now only wants one thing: That the doctor recognizes his mistakes.
“There was a whole investigation made by the doctors to give to the judge who will judge him soon… What is important for me is the recognition of his error, not the rest. The recognition of his error for me, but also for my wife, for my daughter, because this gentleman has done us a lot of harm.” Today, Philippe Conticini has almost no sequelae. If only he has “lost 70%” of his hand and his arm and that he has no more strength.
