This is a trend that is getting worse. “Hygienic insecurity reaches record levels”, alerted the Dons Solidaires association on Monday February 26, revealing that half of the population now says they are reducing their consumption of hygiene products due to inflation. The rate of French people limiting these expenses stands at 50%, compared to 34% a year earlier, according to the “Hygiene and precariousness in France” barometer carried out by Ifop for Dons Solidaires.

Among the hygiene products that the French are increasingly doing without are razors (19%), deodorant (16%), laundry detergent (13%), shampoo or toothbrushes (12%). . 16% of women say they cannot afford to buy protection for themselves or their daughter and 11% sometimes resort to unsuitable substitute products (handkerchiefs, paper napkins, etc.).

The association deplores “an unacceptable situation which is forcing more and more French people to make difficult decisions: depriving themselves of shower gel, giving up going to a job interview or even not leaving the house.”

Faced with these findings, franceinfo is launching a call for testimonies, with a view to an article published on its site in the coming days. To participate, please complete the form below. Make sure to validate the sending of your contribution so that it reaches us correctly. Thanks in advance !
