(Calgary) The season is over for Calgary Flames center Sean Monahan.

Posted at 3:09 p.m.

Monahan will undergo surgery on his right hip, the Flames said.

The 27-year-old Ontarian has eight goals and 23 points this season in 65 games.

He was left out on March 25 against the Arizona Coyotes.

“Sean is the type to keep playing despite many things, without letting a lot of people know about it,” Flames general manager Brad Treliving said.

“Most people would be stopped by a third of the inconvenience he endured. He keeps it to himself. »

Monahan was drafted sixth overall in 2013 by the Flames.

He had 34 goals and 82 points in 2018-19 but has since been slowed by wrist and hip injuries.

His contract counts for $6.375 million towards the salary cap.
