Calgary Flames | Nikita Zadorov moves to Canucks in exchange for two draft picks

(Vancouver) The Vancouver Canucks have acquired defenseman Nikita Zadorov from the Calgary Flames in exchange for a fifth round pick in the upcoming draft and a third round pick in 2026.

Zadorov has one goal and five assists in 21 games this season.

The 28-year-old defender was selected at 16e ranked by the Buffalo Sabers in the first round of the 2013 draft.

He collected 42 goals and 90 assists, in addition to 599 penalty minutes in 588 career NHL games, played with the Sabres, Colorado Avalanche, Chicago Blackhawks and Flames.

Zadorov had discussed the possibility of a trade with the Flames earlier this season. The defender will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, who is in the final year of a two-year contract with an annual salary of US$3.75 million.

The Canucks traded Quebecer Anthony Beauvillier to the Blackhawks on Monday to free up US$4.15 million in space under the salary cap. They got in return the fifth round selection which they sent to the Flames for Zadorov.
