It all happened on Wednesday afternoon. A fisherman notices bodies floating in the water. He rushed in immediately and called for help to all the boats in the area, when nearly 15 people had passed overboard. In the end, 27 migrants died, including seven women and three minors. Two migrants survive the tragedy and are brought back to dry land. “I picked up a pregnant woman, unfortunately, then a young one”, declares Charles Devos, of the National Society of Rescue at Sea, still marked by the tragedy. An investigation was opened to understand the circumstances of the tragedy.
