The electric crossover, which will be the first electric model of the luxury brand from General Motors, finally advances an estimated range of 502 km, or 22 km more than previously announced. This will allow it to be even more competitive in opposition to the Tesla Model Y which advances 512 km on the clock on a full charge.
That said, the Cadillac only has two-wheel drive to move with its entry level trim and 340 hp to keep it going. The American rival gets all-wheel drive, in exchange for a significantly higher price of $83,990 compared to $68,898 for the Cadillac.
The Lyriq will also be entitled to a twin-engine version to play on equal terms. For now, we only know that it will have 500 hp as an argument and will be able to tow a trailer weighing up to 1587 kg in order to compete with crossovers with internal combustion engines.
Both versions rely on a 100 kWh battery as an energy reserve that can be compatible with a maximum charging power of 190 kW. Cadillac estimates that at this rate, the Lyriq can store 122 km of autonomy in 10 minutes, but it is still necessary to find a terminal capable of producing such power.
In short, a newcomer who could well come to muddy the waters and ensure sustained competition for Tesla while modernizing the image of a manufacturer that has long been associated with a certain form of excess fueled by oil.
