After a number of announcements as well as the launch of its Lyriq, Cadillac continues its progressive path towards complete electrification by unveiling its next electric model. It will be called Optiq and its mission will be to be the gateway to this new range.
Strongly influenced by the Lyriq, the Optiq’s design still relies on its cascading headlights to stand out. Its grille, however, is quite visually smaller, an element which recalls the absence of thermal mechanics requiring larger openings to cool. The rear deconstructs its lights to complete a sloping roofline. The rendering seems rather dynamic.
On the technical side, Cadillac is stingy with details. Consistently, this Optiq should adopt the batteries and electric motors of the Chevrolet Equinox EV. If this prediction comes true, a front-wheel drive version should act as an entry-level version with 210 hp while an all-wheel drive livery could push the count to 290 hp. As this is a Cadillac model and modulation of the power of these electric motors is easily achievable, these powers could undoubtedly increase. The estimated maximum range could also reach 513 km in the two-wheel drive version.
Whatever the questions, we will have the essential details next year, Cadillac promises us. This is probably to prepare for its marketing during 2024.
